A little disappointed since a lot of his struggles last year can be pinned on T-Jack. But someone had to go and he makes the most sense. Winslow has a similar skill set and can do all the same things Williams can do and do most, if not all, of the better. We have Miller as a blocking TE, McCoy as his back up, Winslow as a receiving TE and Morrah as his back up. That leaves room for 6 WRs. We had Rice, Baldwin, Butler, Tate, Lockette, Obomanu, and Williams. That's 7 plus guys like Durham and Jermain Kearse that will likely bd on the pracitce squad. One of them had to go and Williams made the most sense.

While it's true that some of the issues Williams had can be pinned on T-Jax, the bottom line is that he underperformed when compared to guys like Baldwin. Regardless of the differences between the types of WR's they play, it still speaks volumes that the undrafted rookie was being targeted a lot more than the veteran. Between that and the up and comers we currently have, it's not surprising that Williams was sent packing. I think Rice is next on the list, and wouldn't be surprised if he gets cut loose mid season if he underwhelms or gets hurt again early on, especially if the other WR's we have do well.
