Good morning. Here’s what’s “out there” about the Seahawks for today, Aug. 8:
Steve Kelly of the Seattle Times likes the condensed free-agent period, which has seen the Seahawks strike quickly, often and decisively. Says Kelly: “In Seattle, which lately has felt like the City of Perpetual Remodeling, the Hawks have undergone a makeover that has amped up interest and anticipation in this season in a way the city hasn’t seen since 2005.
Eric Williams of the News Tribune has a feature on Red Bryant, the XXXL defensive end who is coming off knee surgery that ended his 2010 season at midseason. New D-line coach Todd Wash on Bryant: “Red is a freak athlete, with how big he is and how well he runs and that kind of stuff. We’re going to get him into some one-on-one situations where hopefully he can do some two-gapping kind of stuff, and let him do what he does.”
Mike Sando at ESPN.com offers his thoughts about a reader’s question on the new-look offense. Says Sando: “Overall, I think the offense will improve, but finding a quarterback will remain the top priority in 2012. It’ll be fascinating to see whether the Seahawks should have been more aggressive in pursuing a trade for Kevin Kolb. Their decision to ultimately let the Cardinals pursue Kolb unchallenged was a fateful one.”
If it’s Monday (and we’re pretty sure it is), Peter King at SI.com has his MMQB with notes and thoughts from various training camps as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
At NFL.com, they weigh-in on who should be in the Hall of Fame. We also have a suggestion – no, a plea: CORTEZ KENNEDY!
