Lawyer Milloy has seen his share of safeties in his 15-year NFL career that has made stops in New England, Buffalo, Atlanta and now Seattle.
So it’s meant to be a compliment when the four-time Pro Bowl selection and Super Bowl champion calls Earl Thomas the best cover safety he’s ever seen.
The Seahawks were looking to improve the secondary when they selected Thomas with the 14th overall selection in the 2010 NFL Draft, but they didn’t expect it to come this quick from the rookie. They’re combo of Deon Grant and Brian Russell was successful for a short period and the decision to go with youth led to the release of Grant.
Currently Thomas has five interceptions through 12 games and 64 tackles. His five interceptions are a high for the Seahawks and the only person on the roster with multiple INTs- he’s also tied the Seahawks record of INTs by a rookie. His 64 tackles also are third best on the team and that’s earned him the fifth spot in the current NFL Pro Bowl votes.
