Update: Wednesday 10:57 a.m PT Lynch will be charged with a DUI, the Alameda County, CA District Attoney's office announced.
—Marshawn Lynch was arrested Saturday on suspicion of DUI in Oakland, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
A poor decision made for a player who just had his most successful season as a pro and shortly after signing a 4-year $31 million contract.
And Lynch has made great strides off the field, transforming his reputation which was marred by off-the-field incidents early in his early career in Buffalo.
With the Bills, as reported by the Mercury News, "Lynch's drivers license was revoked in 2008 after he pleaded guilty to "failing to exercise due care toward a pedestrian." Lynch said he was unaware that he had struck a woman outside a Buffalo, NY, bar at 3:30 a.m."
In this case Lynch is innocent until proven guilty of course, but it's not a great headline to see.
Lynch was is in Oakland this weekend hosting a weekend event for his FamilyFirst Foundation he founded with fellow BayArea native and San Francisco 49ers quarterback Josh Johnson.
Timing is everything, and for some, this may tarnish Lynch's diligent efforts off the field.
Some media have speculated that Lynch could receive discipline from commissioner Roger Goodell as a repeat violator of the league's conduct policy should he be found guilty of the charges.
