Good morning. Well, there’s not much “out there” about the Seahawks for today, Jan. 23, but there is plenty of other football:
With the Patriots and Giants winning conference titles on Sunday, John Clayton at ESPN.com looks at their Super Bowl rematch in a Q&A, including which team has the most urgency: “Without question, it’s the Patriots. (Tom) Brady qualified for his fifth trip to the Super Bowl by beating the Ravens 23-20 on Sunday, but his response to Patriots fans after the game was, “I sucked pretty bad today.” Brady will be on a mission for the next two weeks. He felt badly he threw two interceptions. Against the Ravens, he wasn’t particularly sharp, completing 22 of 36 passes for 239 yards and a horrible 57.5 passer rating. Brady and the Patriots settled for three field goals on drives and Brady didn’t have his pinpoint accuracy.”
John Czarnecki at FoxSports.com says it’s Eli Manning – not Brady – who is the best QB entering the Super Bowl: “Manning enters his second championship duel with a lot better resume and a fearless attitude. While attempting 64 passes against a heroic San Francisco defense, Manning was hit 20 times, knocked down 12 times and sacked six times. There was more than one play where he seemingly had eyes in the back of his head as he dodged pocket pressure and somehow delivered another pass.”
While many outlets have Oregon coach Chip Kelly finalizing a deal to become the coach of the Buccaneers, the Tampa Bay Times, via ESPN.com, has Kelly’s decision to remain with the Ducks: “Chip Kelly has decided not to take an offer from the Buccaneers to fill their head-coaching vacancy, Tampa Bay’s general manager said. ‘His heart is with college football and Oregon and he’s no longer being considered,’ Mark Dominik said Monday, according to the Tampa Bay Times.”
