What will three sacks, two forced fumbles and an afternoon of pass-rushing, run-stuffing dominance get you?
In Chris Clemons’ case, it has earned the Seahawks’ “Leo” end NFC defensive player of the week honors. Clemons’ selection for his efforts in Sunday’s 24-7 victory over the Rams in St. Louis will be announced tomorrow.
Clemons is the first Seahawk to be honored this season. Last year, three special teams players were selected: punter Jon Ryan in Week 17, kicker Olindo Mare in Week 7 and kickoff returner Leon Washington in Week 3.
Clemons’ three sacks were a career high, and his first forced fumble – which nickel back Roy Lewis eventually got his hands on – setup the Seahawks’ second touchdown.
“Clem had a great football game,” coach Pete Carroll said. “He got great heat and made a big difference in changing the game and giving us a chance.”
