Scouts Inc. has compiled its rankings of the Top 200 players in the NFL and the Seahawks landed five players on the list, topped by defensive end Chris Clemons at No. 99.
Also included: No. 104, wide receiver Sidney Rice; No. 145, left tackle Russell Okung; No. 159, tight end Zach Miller; No. 199, cornerback Marcus Trufant.
Clemons, who wears No. 91, led the Seahawks with a career-high 11 sacks last season after being acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. Rice and Miller were signed in free agency this year and Okung was a first-round draft choice last year. Trufant, a first-round draft choice in 2003, is the longest tenured Seahawk.
Topping the list is New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. The complete list, and analysis on each player, is available at ESPN.com, but only to Insider subscribers. Here’s the partial analysis for the Seahawks included:
Clemons: “Clemons is explosive with his first two steps off the ball and shows good acceleration around the edge as he bends to pressure the pocket. He has gotten stronger with time but is not great at squeezing blocks down and forcing the action at the point of attack.”
Rice: “Rice missed a good portion of 2010 with injury. He has an excellent combination of size, strength and athleticism. He is a big target and can make it tough on defenders on jump balls. His length and strength enable him to get separation.”
Okung: “Okung has prototypical dimensions for the position with quick feet on his initial kick step as he gets out to mirror the edge speed rusher. He has enough body control and agility to react and adjust to counter moves.”
Miller: “Miller has led his team in receptions three of his four years in the league. He has been one of the few consistent producers on a team that has struggled to find a top-level passing attack. He is an athletic tight end with a good frame that allows him to go over the middle and win most contests in traffic.”
Trufant: “Trufant is a good-sized corner with quick feet and very good agility for press coverage. He has strong hands that can jam receivers at the line of scrimmage or reroute them after their release.”
Linebacker Lofa Tatupu, who was released last month and has yet to sign with another team, is No. 140.
