RENTON, Wash. (AP) - The Seahawks have signed veteran wide receiver Braylon Edwards, adding another experienced pass catcher to the training camp competition for the No. 2 receiver spot.
Edwards signed his deal with the Seahawks on Tuesday morning and he was expected to be on the practice field later in the day.
The 29-year-old Edwards played in nine games last season for San Francisco. He caught 15 passes for 181 yards and no touchdowns during an injury-plagued year that saw him get released by the 49ers in December. Two seasons ago with the New York Jets, Edwards had 53 catches for 904 yards and seven touchdowns.
Edwards also had a tryout last week for Miami. The Seahawks are seeking a receiver to start opposite Sidney Rice after releasing Mike Williams earlier in July.

Edwards does have a pretty shitty list of QBs that have thrown to him in his career. Anderson, Quinn, Sanchez, Clemons, Smith.

Just sayin' this could be the surprise signing of the offseason for the Hawks pending our O-line and Flynn's success. Braylon can stretch the field and make plays when he has a good QB. After all, he did have 900+ recieving yards 2 seasons ago and that was with Dirty Sanchez.

Seems to like what the team is all about, that could be the difference. Did anyone see the sideline catch he made at camp? He does have amazing hands.

And some times he gets the amazing case of the drops! I remember adeep rainbow that Sanchez tossed him and he couldn't located the ball even though it was a floater and its just bounced off his hands and helmet. He looked like a fool. That is the one knock I remember hearing about him constantly. Dude just gets the case of the drops really bad some times.

Edwards has a really bad reputation.. but with Mike Williams gone, we need the height and the speed, so hopefully he will realize this is his last shot, and can stay healthy...

I think Edwards' drops are really over blown. He was really bad at dropping passes earlier on in hiis career and developed that reputation, now everytime he drops one people notice it more because he has that reputation.

Yeah dude... it's not that he has the occassional drop, every wideout has those. It's the type of passes he drops...

He'll make all the tough acrobatic catches, jumping over dudes and tipping the ball to himself before toe tapping in bounds... but then later will be streaking down field, wide open, QB puts the ball on the $ and he flat out drops the ball.

The best thing for Edwards and the Seahawks is to cut his ass ASAP. We love to kid ourselves that these guys change but like Lynch and Mike Williams and Leroy Hill if they have a problem it usually rears its ugly head sooner or later. Edwards is a headcase and a has a big mouth and says stupid ass things to the media on a regular basis and yes drops the rock like D-Jack in his prime. JS needs to quit wasting time on has beens and go find some more Doug Baldwins !

Good signing. I like talented guys that are on their "last chance" as they normally come up big. I'm sure the price was right, too!
