Pete Caroll says that wide receiver Sidney Rice is "ready to go" and practiced fully on Wednesday.

Rice missed the preseason and the first two games of the regular season with a shoulder injury.

"He's ready to go, he's not thinking about anything other than that," Carroll said. "But we'll have to make a good decision when the time comes for that."

Carroll has been criticized for the signings of both Rice and Gallery who have a history of injuries and have missed time even in their brief time thus far this season with the Seahawks.

Did the Seahawks take a gamble they could not afford when they signed oft-injured free-agents such as Robert Gallery and Rice?

Carroll explained, "Sidney is such a young man. He's 25, so I don't think that's an issue."

"Robert's [Gallery] played a lot longer and had some surgeries and somethings. This is something that has nagged at him for a while, but it's something that is easily fixed. The release they can do on his abductors is something that is common place and is something he can come back with really quickly."

Brandon Browner vs Larry Fitzgerald

Browner comes in at 6-foot-4 and will face perhaps one of the top 10 WR's in the league in Fitzgerald. The 6'3 wideout has 10 catches for 195 yards and a TD this season.

"He can match up against big receivers because he's unusually big and long. We're anxious to see how it goes. He plays against Mike [Williams] and [Kris] Durham and those guys but no one's really comfortable going about against Larry Fitzgerald.'

Caroll said that he was 'straight up' with Browner after Sunday's game and that he told him to be aware there would be more attention on him because of what was said on Sunday's FOX broadcast criticizing his play against the Steelers.

A collegiate approach for the NFL

Caroll continued to speak about the youth of his team but admits he did expect more, specifically on the offensive line.

"Unfortunately the whole offeseason made it difficult for these young guys to make this transition and for Tom [Cable] to get the word across. We had to adjust and we're growing and nothing can stop us from getting better."

One could see that Carroll's approach at USC and how it translates to the NFL must be different. At USC the team would recruit for players which would not even step onto the field for two years. Then incoming freshmen would then wait at least a year in most cases to take on full time starting positions. So when Carroll refers to these young guys, is he thinking with the college coaches' mentality of two or three years down the road before they actually win games.

Carroll said Wednesday, "I told the guys this reminds of my first year at USC. We struggled. We really struggled to find the players that would emerge. There were some really good players on that team at that time, but we couldn't tell. We just had to maintain hope and keep our eye on the target. When we bust out we bust out."

"I absolutely know it's going to happen, it's just a matter of time." he concluded.
