A day after a 24-21 loss to the Dolphins in Miami, everyone is in agreement, Russell Wilson is as consistent and has played as well as anyone ever expected during his rookie season. Especially in the last three games.
From the second quarter on in Sunday's loss, Wilson completed 19 of 22 passes and had a streak of 16 straight completions, as calculated by Clare Faresworth of Seahawks.com
Wilson completed in total 21 of 27 passes for 224 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions for a QB rating of 125.9
According to the Seattle Times, In his last four games, which include two on the road, he is 74-for-105 passing for 821 yards and nine touchdowns. He has been intercepted once. That's a passer rating of 118.
The traditional mainstays of the Carroll era Seahawks of running and defense, suffered against Miami. Wilson was not the reason the Seahawks dropped their fifth game of the season. Key was allowing rookie Ryan Tannelhill to drive 65 yards in the final 92 seconds for a the game winning field goal. Tannelhil completed 18 of 26 passes for 253 yards and one touchdown.
The Dolphins did their work against the Seahawk's run game. Marshawn Lynch totaled
46 measly yards on 19 carries. Wilson got 38 yards on 5 QB rushes.
If the season ended today, at 6-5 the Seahawks would be the final NFC Wild Card game.
Suspensions/Pending Suspensions
Pete Carroll refused to comment on the reported pending suspensions for for Brandon Browner and Richard Sherman for violations of the NFL's policy on performance enhancing drugs.
There is a report out by the USA TODAY that indicates Sherman mistakenly drank from a teammate's bottle which contained crushed up Adderall, a hyper-activity disorder drug.
The USA TODAY also reports that in Browner's case, he claims the tester poured urine from another teammate's sample into the container marked for him.
One reporter asked the head coach Monday did it concern him that the issue was possibly widespread among his players. And logically the follow up question was what if anything did Carroll know.
Carroll refused to comment. He did say he expects Browner and Sherman to play Sunday against the Bears. According to the Seattle Times, the players will appeal the suspensions, and that appeal hearing may not occur for a week.
