Cam Newton’s media-only workout in San Diego today came with one former Seahawks quarterback on the field with him and another singing the praises of the Heisman Trophy winner from Auburn on TV.

In fact, Hall of Fame QB Warren Moon actually stopped one drill to correct Newton.

“He wasn’t transferring well,” Moon, who is the analyst for radio broadcasts of Seahawks games, told The Sports Xchange. “He was throwing leaning backward. He has a strong arm, but I don’t care how strong an arm you have, if you are not in the right throwing motion you are not going to have good accuracy.

“As soon as he gets his weight going forward, he throws the ball as accurate as anyone I have been around.”

Having Moon in his corner definitely can’t hurt Newton, whose path to possibly becoming a Top 10 pick in the April NFL draft continues later this month at the scouting combine in Indianapolis. For more on what Moon saw from Newton, click here.

Trent Dilfer, meanwhile, also has become a Newton fan. The former NFL QB turned ESPN analyst offered this glowing review of Newton’s workout, as supplied by ESPN.com blogger Mike Sando.

Moon played two seasons with the Seahawks (1997-98) near the end of his Hall of Fame career. Dilfer was with the Seahawks for four seasons (2001-04).
