Report: Seahawks shopping returner Leon Washington

By Brady Henderson

A tweet from Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com about the Seahawks exploring the trade market for kick returner Leon Washington came hours after the team reached an agreement to acquire Percy Harvin, whose many skills include returning kicks.
For that reason, it's not much of a surprise.
The Seahawks, by all accounts, are finalizing what will presumably be a lucrative long-term deal with Harvin. They could be looking for ways to trim salary elsewhere on their roster, and Harvin's ability to return kicks makes Washington a good place to start.
But that doesn't necessarily mean the Seahawks are intent on parting ways with Washington. He's coming off a Pro Bowl season, after all, and it's fair to wonder whether Harvin's injury history would give the Seahawks some caution about exposing him to extra contact on special teams.
Washington is scheduled to make $1.5 million in base salary next season. His $2.875 cap number accounts for his base salary, $375,000 of his signing bonus and a $1 million roster bonus. That's not cheap but not exorbitant, either.
