A look at the more memorable September moments in Seahawks’ history:
Sept. 1, 1991 – The Seahawks lose their season opener in New Orleans 27-24, and QB Dave Krieg for six weeks with a broken thumb. Brian Blades catches 12 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns.
Sept. 3, 1984 – The Seahawks win their season opener for the first time, 33-0 over the Browns at the Kingdome. But Curt Warner is lost of the season in the first half with a knee injury. The game is played on Monday afternoon because of a scheduling conflict with the Mariners.
Sept. 3, 1995 – The Seahawks lose their first game under coach Dennis Erickson, 34-10 to the Chiefs at the Kingdome. All-time sack leader Jacob Green is inducted into the team’s Ring of Honor.
Sept. 3, 2000 – The Seahawks drop their opener to the Dolphins in Miami 23-0, the first time they’ve been shutout in seven seasons.
Sept. 4, 1983 – Curt Warner, the team’s first-round draft choice, breaks a 60-yard run on his first NFL carry in an opening-day loss to the Chiefs in Kansas City.
Sept. 4, 1988 – The Seahawks open their 13th season with a 21-14 win over the two-time defending AFC champion Broncos in Denver. Curt Warner scores two touchdowns and John L. Williams has 161 yards rushing and receiving.
Sept. 4, 1994 – The Seahawks win their first season opener since 1988, as Chris Warren runs for 100 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-7 win over the Redskins in Washington. The win gives coach Tom Flores his 100th victory as a head coach in the NFL.
Sept. 6, 1992 – The Bengals beat the Seahawks 21-3 at the Kingdome in Tom Flores’ first game as coach.
Sept. 6, 1998 – The Seahawks open their season with a 36-0 victory over the Eagles in Philadelphia as Ahman Green rushes for 100 yards on only six carries and Warren Moon throws two TD passes to Joey Galloway.
Sept. 7, 1986 – The Seahawks win their opener 30-0 over the Steelers at the Kingdome.
Sept. 7, 2003 – The Seahawks post their first season-opening win at home since 1986 with a 27-10 victory over the Saints.
Sept. 8, 1985 – Curt Warner returns from the season-ending knee injury he got in the 1984 opener to score the game-winning TD in a 28-24 victory over the Bengals in Cincinnati.
Sept. 8, 1991 – In his first start since Sept. 25, 1988, Jeff Kemp passes for two TDs in a 20-13 win over the Jets.
Sept. 10, 1989 – The Seahawks lose their opener 31-7 in Philadelphia, and Steve Largent for six weeks with a broken elbow.
Sept. 10, 2000 – The Seahawks play the first of what will be two seasons’ worth of home game at Husky Stadium and lose 37-34 to the Rams. The Seahawks play at the University of Washington because the Kingdome is demolished so their new stadium can be built on the same site.
Sept. 11, 1983 – The Seahawks win their first game under coach Chuck Knox, 17-10 over the New York Jets, as Curt Warner rushes for 128 yards on 24 carries and the team sets a club record with 57 rushing attempts. And you wonder why they called Knox’s offense Ground Chuck.
Sept. 11, 1994 – Rick Mirer passes for three touchdowns and Chris Warren runs for three as the Seahawks beat the Raiders 38-9 in Los Angeles.
Sept. 12, 1976 – The expansion Seahawks play their first regular-season game, losing to the St. Louis Rams 30-24 at the Kingdome.
Sept. 13, 1987 – The players’ strike begins, forcing the cancellation of one game and teams to play with replacement players in three others.
Sept. 13, 2009 – The Seahawks win their first game under coach Jim Mora, 28-0 over the Rams at Qwest Field.
Sept. 14, 1997 – The Seahawks set a franchise record by holding the Colts to 118 yards in a 31-3 victory.
Sept. 14, 2003 – In the Seahawks’ first shutout since 1998, rookie safety Ken Hamlin has a hand in four of the team’s six takeaways in a 38-0 victory over the Cardinals in Arizona.
Sept. 15, 1985 – Dave Krieg throws a club-record five TD passes and Daryl Turner catches a club-record four TD passes in a wild 49-35 victory over the Chargers in San Diego.
Sept. 15, 2002 – In the first regular-season game at Seahawks Stadium, the Seahawks lose to the Cardinals 24-13.
Sept. 16, 2001 – The Seahawks’ home game against the Eagles at Husky Stadium is postponed a week because of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Sept. 17, 1995 – Dennis Erickson gets his first win as coach of the Seahawks, 24-21 over the Bengals at the Kingdome.
Sept. 17, 2006 – Defensive tackle Cortez Kennedy is inducted into the team’s Ring of Honor during a 21-10 win over the Cardinals.
Sept. 18, 1988 – Steve Largent becomes the NFL’s all-time leader in receiving yards (12,167) during a 17-6 loss to the Chargers in San Diego. The record he broke (12,146) belonged to the Chargers’ Charlie Joiner.
Sept. 19, 1993 – Chris Warren carries 36 times for 174 yards in a 17-14 win over the Patriots in New England.
Sept. 20, 1992 – Tom Flores gets his first win as coach of the Seahawks, 10-6 over the Patriots in New England as Cortez Kennedy collects three sacks.
Sept. 21, 1982 – The 57-day players’ strike begins, cancelling eight games.
Sept. 22, 1996 – The Seahawks win 17-13 over the Buccaneers in Tampa as Lamar Smith scores on a 14-yard run with 31 seconds left in the game.
Sept. 24, 2006 – Matt Hasselbeck throws five TD passes in a wild game at Qwest Field that saw the Seahawks storm to a 35-3 halftime lead and then hang on for 42-30 victory over the Giants.
Sept. 25, 1994 – Chris Warren runs for 125 yards and a TD, while the defense intercepts four passes, in a 30-13 win over the Steelers.
Sept. 26, 1993 – Linebacker Rod Stephens recovers a fumble in the end zone to ice a 19-10 victory over the Bengals in Cincinnati.
Sept. 26, 2004 – The Seahawks open the season 3-0 with a 34-0 victory over the 49ers at Qwest Field. The 49ers had scored in a league-record 420 consecutive games.
Sept. 28, 1980 – The Seahawks post the second shutout in club history, 14-0 over the Redskins at RFK Stadium.
Sept. 29, 1991 – Chris Warren scores on a 59-yard punt return – the first by a Seahawk since 1986 – and QB Dan McGwire makes his first NFL start in a 31-3 victory over the Colts at the Kingdome.
Sept. 29, 2002 – Shaun Alexander sets a NFL record by scoring five times in the first half of a 48-23 win over the Vikings at Seahawks Stadium.
