Sidney Rice has played his final down for the Seahawks this season. The wide receiver was placed on injured reserve today after getting a second concussion in three weeks in Sunday’s game against the Redskins.
Coach Pete Carroll made the announcement after the team’s light workout, and said that linebacker Mike Morgan will be signed off the practice squad to fill Rice’s roster spot.
“We’re just trying to do the right thing and protect our guy,” Carroll said. “We love him and he’s a great kid in the program. We know he won’t get hurt again (this season), so we’ll get him strong and ready for next year.”
Rice, who was signed in free agency in July, has caught 32 passes for 484 yards, totals that rank second on the team to rookie free agent Doug Baldwin.
