With the first of their two picks in the seventh round of the NFL Draft, the Seahawks selected LSU defensive end Pep Levingston.
The 6-foot-3, 292-pound Levingston – whose given name is Lazarius Cortez – started 12 games at left defensive tackle last season. But the Seahawks are listing him as defensive end – at five-technique spot, where they needed a backup for Red Bryant.
Pro Football Weekly on Levingston: “A big, solid-frame defensive lineman who underachieved, until late in his career and projects best inside or as a base end in the pros.”
The pick, the second in the final round, was acquired in Friday’s trade with the Detroit Lions. The Seahawks also have a compensatory pick in this round, No. 242 overall.
