Seahawks tight end John Carlson will have surgery to repair a torn labrum and miss the season, coach Pete Carroll just announced after the team’s practice.
Carlson damaged the shoulder while diving for a pass in practice on Aug. 13. It was hoped he could rehab the injury and play this season. But tests done Monday indicated he will need surgery.
“We were really counting on this,” Carroll said of using Carlson and recently signed Pro Bowl tight end Zach Miler in tandem. “We were so excited about having Zach and John play together. Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen now.”
