With the 25th pick in the second round of the NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks select …
No one knows that. Not now anyway. Not even general manager John Schneider and coach Pete Carroll. Sure, they know who they’d like to draft and even have a list of players they think will be available with the 57th pick overall. But that exact player they’ll tab next Friday? No way. Too many variables. Too many what-ifs and what-are-they-doings to be played out.
But they do know is who will announce that selection: Cortez Kennedy, the eight-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle who was the Seahawks’ first-round draft choice in 1990.
The NFL is bringing in former players to announce the second-round picks at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Here’s the rest of the list:
Cardinals: CB Aeneas Williams
Falcons: LB Jessie Tuggle
Ravens: LB Peter Boulware
Bills: WR Andre Reed
Panthers: FB Brad Hoover
Bears: DE Richard Dent
Bengals: OT Anthony Munoz
Browns: WR Paul Warfield
Cowboys: DE Charles Haley
Broncos: TE Shannon Sharpe
Lions: RB Barry Sanders
Packers: FB Jim Taylor
Texans: CB Aaron Glenn
Colts: LB Jeff Herrod
Jaguars: S Donovin Darius
Chiefs: LB Willie Lanier
Dolphins: CB Sam Madison
Vikings: DE Chris Doleman
Patriots: LB Andre Tippett
Saints: OT Willie Roaf
Giants: RB Joe Morris
Jets: DT Marty Lyons
Raiders: DB Willie Brown
Eagles: DB Troy Vincent
Steelers: RB Franco Harris
Rams: Marshall Faulk
Chargers: RB Natrone Means
49ers: WR Dwight Clark
Buccaneers: S John Lynch
Titans: DE Jevon Kearse
Redskins: QB Doug Williams
The Panthers, Dolphins and Jets do not have second-round picks, so Hoover, Madison and Lyons will announce their third-round selections.
Tying the present to the past is a nice touch, and will only enhance the second-round experience for the TV viewers.
