Elvis Dumervil is more of a DE than a traditional NFL Linebacker. I didn't watch any Broncos games last season, but if you guys aren't running a 3-4 defense, you should be. Otherwise Dumervil should be moved to the DE position.
We do run a 3-4. Completely different systems, completely different roles for the LBs. This strict stat comparison really doesn't show much. This offseason the Broncos released their 3rd leading tackler and one of their starting inside linebackers. I'm sure the Broncos would love to have Hawthorne starting along side DJ Williams in the middle, or even take some reps outside opposite Dumervil.
As for Rob Sims, is it possible he could play center? As of now, the Broncos have no center (other than a practice squad center with only 4 games in the NFL and a 1st year G who rode the bench last season) on the roster. It's by far our greatest need.
