John Carlson had a say-what response when told he had been voted to the Seahawks’ 35th Anniversary team.
He has, after all, played only three seasons with the club. But Carlson was the pick at tight end when readers of Seahawks.com cast their votes for this blue-and-green dream team to commemorate the franchise’s milestone moment.
Carlson’s immediate impact – he already holds the franchise single-season records for receptions (55), receiving yards (627) and touchdown catches (nine) by a tight end – lifted him to a slim margin of victory over Mike Tice. In fact, Carlson has the top two marks in each of those categories.
“It’s a great honor. I’m very humbled by it,” he said. “Now it’s my job to continue to work and get better and live up to it.”
Carlson’s story of unprecedented production at the position is the second in a series of profiles on the 29 members of the reader-selected team that will be featured over the next few months.
