Make that a “Mallett,” because several mock drafts have been updated this week and are tabbing Ryan Mallett, the quarterback from Arkansas, for the Seahawks with the 25th pick in April’s NFL draft.

Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com: Mallett

Mallett’s character questions and slow feet make him an odd choice for Seattle and its West Coast offense, but the Seahawks appear to be very intrigued with the Razorback’s strong arm. GM John Schneider was on hand for Mallett’s Pro Day, another indication that the Seahawks may not have been overwhelmed with the performance of Charlie Whitehurst in his limited playing time. Should the team be unable to come to an agreement with Matt Hasselbeck, finding a quarterback with the physical ability and experience in a pro-style offense (like Mallett) to compete immediately could trump any and all other concerns.

Mallett should let his right arm do all the talking, because it continues to make a first-round case for itself better than his mouth. After sparkling in the passing drills in Indy, he followed it up with another strong showing at his Arkansas Pro Day last Tuesday. Maturity issues notwithstanding, some QB-needy team is going to take a chance on Mallett’s potential.

This won’t be a popular pick because they’re bypassing the hometown hero, Jake Locker, but Pete Carroll likes the traditional pocket passer.

So Mallett it is? Hardly. The Seahawks are well into their draft preparation, but it is far from complete as Pro Day workouts are ongoing and widespread. And not all the mockers are in on this Mallett-mania.

Pouncey could play guard if Max Unger steps in at center, or vice versa.

Nolan Nawrocki, Pro Football Weekly: Corey Liuget, DT, Illinois

Whether or not Matt Hasselbeck was healthy last season, the Seahawks showed they could win with a proven ground game. Where they need the most help is on the defensive line, and Liuget could provide help at either interior position, most ideally being suited to line up alongside Brandon Mebane.
