The Seahawks have lost linebacker and special teams standout Matt McCoy indefinitely because of the knee he sprained while covering the first punt in Sunday’s game against the Falcons.
It doesn’t appear that McCoy will need surgery, coach Pete Carroll said during his just-completed day-after news conference. But Carroll called the sprain “significant,” adding that it could be “awhile” before McCoy can return.
McCoy is among the team’s leading tacklers on special teams and also has been playing middle linebacker in the nickel and short-yardage defensive packages.
