Adam Schefter is just reporting Maurice Morris has signed a three-year deal with Detroit. Morris was signed in the second round out of Oregon in 2004. The money terms haven't been released, but it looks like Mo Mo is a Lion.

Wow.. seeing him in a Lions jersey will be very interesting. But it will be nice to see him get some more carries, I just really hope Julius Jones can pick his game up, and possibly if what I heard is true, having Warrick Dunn might help us having more of a veteran back present

Morris won't get much more carries. Kevin Smith did pretty decent last year and Morris will likely share carries like he did here for so long.

I personally would rather pick up a guy from the draft or use Forsett as that guy that will help out Jones. Duckett will be that short yardage specialist like last year. Duckett is a veteran and already helps out the "younger" guys, which would only be Forsett/Schmitt. Jones has had plenty of experience and knows how to play well and so did Morris, so picking up Dunn would be a waste.

Its was time to shake up our backfield...I truly think that we let the wrong guy go...but now I can see us taking a RB in the first round, second round at the the latest...someone has to put the pressure on JJ he has the skills but has never been the guy ! Forsett will own him in training camp and should be a starter or #2 behind a new young back with the will to win

I think Julius will do just fine with us in Seattle. No one really gave him a chance to show us what he was made of. It was obvious Holmgren and Haskell wanted Mo Mo. I think if he had been given a fair chance he would have beat out Morris. Given our line also being healthy again next year I think Jones should do just fine with us.

:? So you think Holmgren and Haskell kept the better RB on the bench, on purpose ,for what reason ? some kind of protest ?

JJ was benched because he sucked and he sucked at dallas and he will continue to suck ..because he sucks.. Holmgren knew it and didn't want to bring the loser in the first place..now were saddled with the bum..until we cut his ass, for lack of effort.

With Mo now gone we WILL be getting a new RB......I can only pray that Ruskell scouts him better then he did JJ

Ida- Holmy didn't want JJ. So yes I do think Holmgren may have basically played Mo Mo over JJ to basically tell the front office "screw you". What did he have to lose he was leaving after the year?

Also yes Holmgren did say he was going to stay loyal to Mo Mo and that's why he was starting him. He said he had given him a lot during his tenure as head coach.

I'm not saying JJ is better. All I'm saying is I think with him having a coach who is confident in him will help. It was obvious Holmgren never liked JJ you could tell by the way he talked about him and handled him on the side-lines. Let's be honest with that.

Of course he didn't like JJ. And not because it wasn't his guy..but because JJ is lazy and will never run hard..I can't blame Mike for being pissed about JJ ..I was pissed when we signed him...and spent big money on him and got a flopper . JJ was not resigned by dallas for a reason...and that was lack of heart...he has the skills and had good numbers..but just let Barber come in and take his job from him..thats why he was allowed to go and sign elsewhere...he only cares about a paycheck..he will never run hard or put up big numbers..he's just a RB, nothing special, but were paying him big time money ?

Maybe your right, but he still did lead our team in rushing. I just think we need to give him a shot is all I'm saying. Everyone is shooting him down, but let's see what he does with a coach that knows how to motivate those type of players. Mora is a players coach so I think ti will work out well.

I think the deal here is that they are two almost identical backs. JJ averaged slightly higher per carry than Mo, and managed to get two rushing T.D.'s where as Mo got none. JJ runs with heart as much as Mo or anyone else on that roster, I fail to see a reason that would be disputed. JJ is a better blocker than Mo so I think they kept the right back. It drove me F-ing crazy to see JJ get sat last season just because Holmgren made promises to Mo. It pissed JJ off too, and I don't blame him. Everywhere Jones goes, he doesn't get a chance. Marion Barber is clearly a better back, so naturally Dallas sat Jones. Poor Jones comes to Seattle thinking he's going to be the man, and what happens? He is second fiddle again. I'd have told Holmgren to go fuck himself if I was him. I wish all the best for Mo, and all the worst for his new team Detroit.

You'll like him better if we improve our line. Or...... we could draft Knowshon Moreno to run into the backs of our linemen, because there is no hole to run through.

At least if Moreno gets into the open field he can out run someone

It isn't like he as the back up the entire time (I think only the maybe 1/2 of the 2007 season, max). And it isn't like he lost the starting job to some shitty running back.
