This is a big week for Pro Day workouts on college campuses. Today, Patrick Peterson, the top-rated cornerback, will be part of the session at LSU. Tomorrow, it’s Florida, including offensive lineman Mike Pouncey; as well as Pittsburgh. Wednesday, QB Christian Ponder is up at the Florida State Pro Day. Thursday, it’s Blaine Gabbert, one of the top-rated passer, at Missouri. Friday, it’s on to Temple, and defensive tackle Muhammad Wilkerson.
The University of Washington? The Huskies’ Pro Day is later this year, scheduled for March 30.
There are a lot of mock drafts out there, but Pat Kirwan goes two rounds in his latest effort on NFL.com. He gives the Seahawks Colorado cornerback Jimmy Smith with the 25th pick in the first round and TCU offensive tackle Marcus Cannon in the second.
Kirwan on Smith: “Smith was off the board in my first mock, but the big corner is there this time. He is nasty, and at 6-1 and 211 pounds with a 4.42 40, he fits into Seattle’s scheme. Jake Locker is still on the board but his film study could lead the Seahawks away from the local star.”
He offers no comments on his second-round picks, but Cannon has the size (6-5, 358) to play guard and could be athletic enough to play right tackle. NFLDraftScout.com ranks Cannon as the No. 6 tackle in this year’s draft class and No. 52 player overall.
