Chicago Bears (1-1, Tied-2nd NFC North) at Seattle Seahawks (1-1, Tied-2nd NFC West)
1:05 (PT), 4:05 (ET)
Announcers:
Fox (National): Dick Stockton and Charles Davis
Seahawks: Radio- Steve Raible and Warren Moon
Last Meeting: Seahawks 30-23 in 2007 in which Matt Hasselbeck went 30-for-44 with 337 yards and two touchdowns in the week 11 match-up.
Analysis:
Without Hasselbeck Seneca Wallace will have to keep the Seahawks into the game against a very good Chicago Bears defense- not as good in the past and missing Brian Urlacher. However the Seahawks offense seemed out of rhythm last week in San Francisco and are hoping that a return to Qwest brings a fair share of false starts and distractions to the Bears. TJ Houshmandzadeh still hasn’t become comfortable with Hasselbeck- nor has he been able to get truly accustomed to him which means his productivity might be small against the Bears. Julius Jones and Justin Forsett should be used to mix things up and try to get the passing game going- running game definitely wasn’t in the plans against the 49ers like it had been against the Rams. Look for John Carlson to be a key go-to-guy just like he was last year for Wallace.
Defensively the Seahawks need to blitz as much as they can on Jay Cutler. Lofa Tatupu will join Leroy Hill and Marcus Trufant on the out list. Brandon Mebane could play and would fill a big hole in the middle of the line- something that was missing against the 49ers. Patrick Kerney and Lawrence Jackson are working well together and could create some problems for the Bears offense.
Prediction: This game will be a close one- Seahawks Olindo Mare delivers as time-expires (just like Robbie Gould did to us in January of 2007)- Seahawks 17, Bears 14.
Season Record: (1-1)
Connections:
NONE BETWEEN THE BEARS AND SEAHAWKS.
Seahawks News of the Week:
-Seahawks will be wearing their lime green jersey’s in the game.
-Seahawks cut Brian De La Puente to add Jamar Adams back to the practice squad.
-Hasselbeck is likely to miss this week due to a rib injury meaning Seneca Wallace earns the start.
-Lofa Tatupu is also expected to miss this weeks game. DD Lewis or David Hawthorne will replace him.
