After losing veteran kicker Olindo Mare to the Carolina Panthers in free agency, the Seahawks have added Auburn’s Wes Byrum, the Birmingham News is reporting.
Byrum is Auburn’s all-time leading scorer, and kicked the game-winner in the Tigers’ 22-19 win over Oregon in the BCS title game. But he was not selected in the April NFL Draft.
He scored 123 points last season, hitting 17 of 22 field goals and 72 of 73 PATs. Byrum was 15 of 16 on field goals in 2009, for a career-high 93.8 percent, and scored 99 points.
