Which socialistic countries would you like me to look at?

Iceland. Sweden. Canada's socialist health care system. Broken Britian, and Europe as a whole. Just thought I'd throw those in there!

Whether my leftie friends on here like it or not, Obama's wanting to turn this nation to socialism. There is no nation/country that has succeeded in HISTORY that went the way of socialism. If they did, it's not recorded.

And sure, I disapprove of alot of what Bush did the past 8 years, but he kicked tail during 9/11. Under his watch, we got Sadaam, which is something his daddy-o should have done in '91. But think about this: when Slick Willie was in office, there were 9, count 'em, NINE, terrorsit attacks on America. When Bush was in office? One.

Do I blame the high gas prices on Bush? You bet. He and his pops are in oil. Dirty politics right there. But at least he stood for America the way it was created to function.

Nobody's perfect, and I think too many people want the President to be perfect. It's the toughest job in THE WORLD. But when our current C.I.C. wants to take me and my family downa road that I don't want to go, then I get a little fearful and want to voice my opinions/concerns about it. If I want to go down a road, let ME go down it, not my President telling me to go down that road. That's NOT freedom.

Just FYI, all those countries you listed, Pottsie, have a better free market economy than the U.S. does according to the 2008 Global Competitiveness report which details things like openness to capital flows, low trade barriers, absence of distortion from tax subsidies, etc. McCain had socialistic policies, too (i.e. taxing my healthcare benefits to pay for healthcare for all), but I have never once heard anyone say that he wanted to turn this country to socialism...

As for this:

Um, well. You just listed a few. And they also graduate more of their citizens from college than we do. So better healthcare, better economy (that is easier to compete in), better education rates. Um, what is our problem? I am not advocating turning to socialism, rather that we are and have been doing something very wrong if we claim to have some great structure in place, yet socialistic countries are generally better off.
