Cortez Kennedy will have to wait at least another year to enter the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

For the second consecutive year, the Seahawks’ former eight-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle made it to the Final 10. For the second consecutive year, Kennedy was eliminated in the voting to reach the Final 5 during the 7½-hour selection committee meeting in Dallas today.

Elected for the Class of 2011 were defensive end Richard Dent, running back Marshall Faulk, Ed Sabol of NFL Films, defensive back Deion Sanders and tight end Shannon Sharpe. Faulk and Sanders were in their first year of eligibility and widely considered the leading candidates for this year’s class.

Also elected were the two senior committee nominees: linebackers Chris Hanburger and Les Richter.

I moved this here because I think it is a big deal. I thought it was 50/50 if he got in. I am bummed that he didn't. I think, however, it is telling that he made the top 10 again. Next year...

Let's wait till Walt goes in and save on airfare and make it a Huddle weekend in Canton when they go in as a package deal....

Sucks but....Basically an all-Seahawks HOF weekend would be pretty damn badass...

at least that fatass, overated, lombardi trophy thieving Bettis got snubbed too. The only form of satisfaction I could find in the vote.

Tez will be picked next year. I think next year class appears to be kind of weak for first timers unlike the past two years for example.

He made the probowl eight times in just 10 seasons as a D-Tack. He won defensive MVP on a 2-14 team as a D-tack as well. If he played for the Cowboys, 49ers, Packers, Eagles, Giants, Bills, etc he would have been in by now. Basically any of the high profile teams in the 90's.

Then why aren't Cris Carter, Steve Tasker, Andre Reed, Ricky Watters, and Roger Craig in yet?

That excuse is tired..Everyone uses it....Cortez was great but he wasn't worthy of this years class...He will make it but people are making him out to be waaaaaaaaaaaaay greater than he was..When guys like Carter, Faulk, and others aren't getting in there is no room to Bitch about Cortez...It sucks but....When most record setting players are snubbed we've got no room to talk, 'Rex doesn't even hold MOST SEAHAWKS DEFENSIVE RECORDS!!!! And NFL top-5 all time at their positions are being left out, THEY are the ones being snubbed...

Roger Craig isn't even getting A SNIFF and dude is a multiple Superbowl winner, the first 1000-1000 Club member, one of the best blocking RBs in history, and one of the best RBs PERIOD of the '80s...At least Tez made the finalists, Craig is getting fucked...

Tez made the pro bowl 80% of his seasons 94' and won a defensive MVP. Last I saw those guys never won offensive player of the year. I'd say Tez was one of the most dominant players at his position for his era. He made the pro bowl in 80% of his seasons. The two years he didn't make it was his last year in the NFL and in 1997 when he missed half the year due to injury.

How many pro bowls did those guys make? Steve Tasker shouldn't be in the hall of fame in my opinion. Specialists are nice but not hall of fame worthy they talked about it on NFL network and they are right. If he was truly a Hall of Famer he wouldn't be a specialist to begin with.

Craig---NFL's first 1000-1000 Club member, 4-Time ProBowler, 3 Time Superbowl Champion
Carter---EIGHT Time ProBowler, Retired #3 All-Time in Rec, RecTD, 6th RecYards,
Reed--Top 12 All time in Rec, RecYards, RecTDs, 4 Time AFC Champion, 7 Time ProBowler
Watters--5 Time ProBowler, Superbowl Champion, 10,000+Rushing Yard Club, 91TDs, 5TD Game in Playoffs (NFL Record), 3TDs in Only Superbowl
Tasker--4 Time AFC Champion, Best ever at his position, 7 Time ProBowler, ALL NFL 1st TEAM FIVE Times (more than ANYONE including Kennedy on this list)...

For you to say "STers aren't good enough to play other positions" is just plain stupid....Sorry but it is....Only idiots and hack writers discount guys like Ray Guy and Steve Tasker...THEIR FELLOW PLAYERS say they should be in the HOF, NUFF SAID....Funny you said "specialists don't belong in the HOF" because about a month ago weren't you bitching about a DH not making it? IF ANYONE in ANY SPORT is a "specialist" it's a DH...

Totally different 94' but you seem to be in an argumentative mood lately so I'll bite.

A DH like Edgar for an example often hit cleanup for the Mariners. When the game was on the line Edgar was at bat in 1995, David Ortiz was at bat for the Red Sox time and time again.

In 2003 was Alex Bannister just as valuable as Hasselbeck, Alexander and Jones? No he wasn't.

When the game is on the line Tasker isn't have the ball thrown his way. I'd relate Tasker to late game defensive replacement in baseball. He has a role and it's a great role but not hall of fame worthy.

Ray Guy should be in the hall of fame. Kicking is important and so is field position. His one job is to punt and he's the best at it. While Tasker if he truly was "great" would have made an impact at WR which he never did.

As for the others Craig should be in the hall of fame and maybe now that football is geared towards RB's who are versatile he'll be apprciated. Carter I don't know why the HOF has a thing against WR's but they seem to(Irvin, Monk, Carter, Tim Brown, Reed, etc). Watters in my opinion was a compiler not a hall of famer. He was hall of fame for 49ers but only there for three years after that he was a compiler. Remember this is the hall of fame not hall of good.

In the Hall of Fame for any sports I don't compare stats from different era's. I compare stats within the era. Bradshaw made the pro bowl one year throwing for 1,900 yards.

Sometimes you have to use eye test as well. Swan was probably at the time considered one of the best WR's of his era. Why I think it was dumb Irvin had to wait three times because in his prime he was cleary the #2 receiver in the league behind the G.O.A.T .

Not "argumentative" just saying people bitch about "specialists" and pick and choose why they shouldn't be in the HOF..They are as important to most teams as any other player..AGAIN...There are plenty of HOFers who say Tasker belongs with them..

As for AB, Alex wasn't considered the "best at his position" for years and years..Was he as important as Hass and Shauna---HELL NO...But to the Bills Tasker a HUGE piece of that puzzle and AGAIN...He was the BEST at his position for the whole time he played and along with Bill Bates (another guy who should be in) was the best ever at that position...

While Tasker if he truly was "great" would have made an impact at WR which he never did.

He was too valueable to risk injury playing WR...Bruce DeHaven wouldn't LET him play WR him and Levy had MANY arguements about that...

P.S. Irvin and Monk are both in the HOF....Those other guys aren't...

Who is "G.O.A.T."?

Speaking of guys NOT in the HOF who deserve to be....John Taylor...If Swann and Stallworthless are in, why isn't Taylor???

G.O.A.T= Greatest Of All Time which was of course Jerry Rice.

I was saying Monk and Irvin had to wait a while. Of course Carter will get in(probably next year, although Reed and Brown may have to wait longer).

They are pretty pick about WR's is all I'm saying.

They are TOO picky about WRs....

Here's my HOF SCREWED List:

Tasker
John Taylor
Haley
Guy
Jim Hart
Krieg
Craig
Mike Curtis

Curtis has been getting the royal screwjob for years...

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NNUF5JBAqg"]YouTube - Baltimore Colts Mike Curtis[/ame]

Think of Chad Brown's heart, LT's hits, and Butkus's attitude....Dude was a WARRIOR...Ya'll know how much I love my LBs....'94 is and always will be my hero...Also...Curtis was an Original Seahawk...

Yeah, that Krieg....Him and Jim Hart have the stats to be there....If 'Tez makes it for "being on a bad team" then they BOTH have a case...They both retired in the Top-10 All-Time Passers and both went to the playoffs in their primes...Krieg started more playoff games than alot of QBs currently in the HOF..

Hmm. I dunno. I don't really pay much attention to how the votes go to get in to the HOF, but I can't imagine having more turnovers (199 INTs + 153 fumbles = 352 total turnovers) than scores (261 passing + 13 rushing = 273 total scores) makes it easy for someone to present Krieg's case...

I don't think Tez makes it for being on a bad team. I think he has not made it yet because he was on bad teams. He was probably one of the best defensive linemen of the 90s. Top five I bet. Don't think you can say that at all about Krieg.

He was a solid NFL QB who played in an era where passing was just starting to become what it is now....Guy doesn't get ANY respect for what he did and the numbers he put up in offense geared to running the ball....Look at his numbers passing then look at the RBs that were his teammates...Makes you wonder HOW he had the numbers he did...

Another group not in that deserves it:

Alex Karras
Ken Stabler
Ken Anderson
Jerry Kramer
Jim Marshall
Paul Tagliabue
Steve Sabol (now that Ed's in, time to get Steve in there)
