Thanks, youse guys! Wow, Bob, I cannot fathom being a kid and seeing that. Must be like my folks and Pearl Harbor was. Glad to see you appreciate it, unlike some others who think it was nothing because they were too young. Glad you got on the news!
I watched the entire game...Invested over two hours of my life! First time in SF franchise history they scored TDs running back a punt and kick in the same game. History was made--again at the Hawks' expense! This is like watching the Lions when I was a kid. (Tom Dempsey, anyone?)
Seriously...
Thanks, guys! And good suggestion, Jean! I actually had AZZ saying "I told him to get out of the stock market" which was more topical, but I figure later this season it may not apply (at least I and my IRA are hoping it won't apply!) :-)
Thanks, guys. Just after I posted, I read that Matt went 5 for 6 for 55 yards, then gave the game ball to the coach. Nice move.
I honestly hope he does well in Tennessee.
Not familiar with the "other" Portis. I usually grab one of those giant preseason mags like Lindy's to read up on...
I cannot believe I missed the game on ESPN!!! I swear the time between the lockout ending and the preseason starting has been measured in milliseconds. I'll look for highlights online.
My question is, who took over at QB after Whiteworst? How did they look? I am so far behind, the last news...
What the hell? I searched on Google for "NFL lockout hearing" and "NFL lockout hearing ruling" and every friggin' article on the first page was from MAY. I then tried "NFL June 3rd hearing", and got just ONE, dated the 3rd! I clicked on an ESPN link within it and found this one from June 9...
I heard on CNBC that agents are actually telling their players to NOT be "the least bit active". Meaning do not even workout at all! The reason? If they get hurt, they're not covered. However, if they're out of shape and the season is saved, they're more prone to injury. But that's okay...
Thanks, guys! I was worried it might offend people...But I figure those who are truly pure of mind wouldn't get a double meaning and therefore wouldn't be offended! :p
(My favorite kind of jokes...
Q: What can you find in a billiard table and in men's pants?
A: Pockets!) ;)
Absolutely. (Yeah, I'm late in replying. Sorry.)
What I found most interesting was an email I received the next morning from an apparel site offering a Carpenter SH jersey --the day after he was selected! Does he really have that many fans? I figured other than his family and buddies, how many...
Yup. Just wait for someone else to invoke the "N" word (that would be "Nazis"). Once slavery is brought up, the Nazi analogy can't be far behind!
:scenic:
Thanks for the updates and links, guys. Have not been able to follow and wondered where we were.
I just don't get the lack of compromise. It's all pretty logical; simply mirror the part of the real business world that works. I don't care for one side or the other; it's like the stupid...
We had a home show here a couple years ago and there was a rep from one that makes NFL fields. We are seriously considering getting the small patch of uneven grass in the backyard made into turf! Guessing it's a lot more expensive than re-sodding and levelling the ground, tho.
Thanks much, 94. What threw me, tho, is that the article lists Dallas's new field as "Artificial Turf", Buffalo's as "AstroPlay", and St. Louis's as "Astroturf."
Talk about confusing!
Ford Field is definitely in the top ten; seen several games there (including my first Hawks game!). Anything that gets you out of the Detroit cold is good, and with walking access and being next to Comerica Park (another great field) gets major points--especially if you've ever been to the...
