we have really opened up our draft to really just draft the best player available instead of need with the success weve had in free agency.

I agree, Mathieu would be a good gamble especially if he falls at least to the 3rd round or lower. The Hawks should be looking to roll the dice on some top end talent like Mathieu who could fall because of off the field issues and the like, since it's not likely very many "safe picks" would even be able to make the roster this year, so they don't really have much to lose if they don't pan out and a lot to gain if they do.

Another guy who could stick is Ryan Swope after clocking a 4.34 at the combine, much faster than originally advertised. So there's really no reason left why he couldn't conceivably end up being the best WR in this draft class 2 or 3 years down the road. If he pans out he could definitely find his place with the Hawks even with Harvin coming in. Last I checked he was still projected as a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

i agree 100% about swope. watched him on the combine coverage and he looked great. Would love to see him with the seahawks. depth at WR is never a problem. Especially when you have 3 WR's who have been injured a bit. (Harvin, Baldwin, and Rice)

Call me crazy but i totally want seattle to draft the "honey badger" Tyrann Mathieu for the slot corner spot. Player with a chip on his shoulder, and a natural ability to cause turnovers. i like it.
He just looks like an idiot. Reminds me of Simon Phoenix from Demolition Man.
